Community Funding in Cornwall

grants panel members

“It’s not often that one encounters an organisation with an ethos of absolute care, not only for their customers but also their employees, suppliers and surrounding communities. In fact, it’s anyone who happens to touch their business who will feel the genuine warmth and welcome which goes beyond the norm. This is the norm for Cornwall Group.” (₁)

Annie and Maude is part of the larger Cornwall Group which owns several companies operating glass manufacturing and glazing locations stretching from The Isles of Scilly to Bristol. The Cornwall Group remains very much a family run business and currently employs, approaching 300 colleagues. Chairman Mark Mitchell has long embraced the idea of community support and the Cornwall Glass Fund has been investing in community projects managed and guided by the Cornwall Community Foundation, since 2013. Supporting a multitude of projects across a broad demographic of people throughout Cornwall, the fund has awarded grants approaching and amazing £122,500.00 over the past 9 years.

The 2022 grants panel, consisting of colleagues and family members from Cornwall Group, Cornwall Glass Manufacturing, Cornwall Glass and Annie and Maude recently met, deliberated and granted funds totally £19,660.00 to 21 groups across the county. It is a privilege to be part of this panel and play a small part in actively helping those around us. It is more poignant now as so many are starting to really feel the effects of the steep rise in cost of living on the tail end of the isolation and hardship so many have endured from the pandemic over the past couple of years. It feels great to have something to celebrate especially in this special Jubilee year.

The Annie and Maude team look forward to hearing about how this years’ grant funds have had a positive impact on those around us and look forward to awarding more grants in the coming years.
